Holy Week Devotional Cards

A set of devotional cards designed to help you unpack what exactly happened during Holy Week and what it all means.

Have you ever struggled to explain (or maybe even understand yourself!) all that happened during Holy Week and how it fulfilled Old Testament prophesy and Jewish law? If you answered yes, then this resource is for you. The events of Holy Week and Easter are rich with meaning and full of symbolism, but since none of us are first-century Jews (to whom it would have been incredibly obvious) a lot of the symbolism might go over our heads.

Beginning on Palm Sunday and leading through Jesus' final days on Earth, his death, and resurrection, the front of each card in this set prompts you to read 1-3 scripture passages and the back contains a few paragraphs explaining the cultural/historical context of what happened, and what it means for believers today.

Topics covered include:

• why Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey
• how Jesus' death fulfilled the atonement practices of the tabernacle/temple
• why Jesus cleansed the temple
• how Jesus was the fulfillment of Passover
• why Jesus washed his disciples' feet
• what it meant when the veil of the temple tore
• what living in the 'already but not yet' means
• what Jesus' death & resurrection accomplished

(Because of the complexity of some of these topics, these cards are probably best suited to upper elementary aged kids, teens, and/or new believers.)

There are also four bonus cards included in the set: a devotional for Ash Wednesday, a prayer for Holy Week, and two Scripture memory / Bible verse art cards.

My prayer is that this card set will be a useful tool that helps to make Holy Week a little more 'holy' (set apart), and leads you to a deeper understanding and greater sense of awe at the weight and scope of Jesus' finished work on the cross.
